About the plant: Commonly known as the Peacock calathea, Calathea makoyana is possibly the queen of the striking group of Calatheas. It's beautiful, detailed, delicate leaves make it a treasure in every plant owner's collection.
Calatheas grow naturally in humid, South American jungles. As a result, they require a humid environment (~70 AH or higher), and I find that using a humidifier is the best way to keep them healthy. If you're using tap water - make sure to leave water out over night so the chemicals can burn off.
